Not a rant as such but hopefully will share our knowledge.
Following a meeting this week with Thames Water bio solids department (💩) I learned how increasingly hard it is becoming to get rid of yours and our toilet waste.
I’m not sure if everyone knows this but the waste is used to produce electricity and from that some is sold to the ‘grid’ and also methane is piped into the nation’s pipes for people to use, for me this makes complete sense and the most efficient way to produce energy.
The other benefits are farmers getting organic fertiliser that is heat treated to spread on the fields.
This only works if the treatment companies have enough ground to spread the waste on. Following the farmers subsidies falling and will be disappearing soon, the government are offering a new scheme to farmers to try and make some of the fall in income back.
Yes we will be entering into the scheme but it means taking land out of food production, yes for the good of the environment and wildlife but my big concern and the water companies is that the land area available to spread human waste on is declining and our population is growing, if they can’t spread the waste it will be pumped out into the ocean which obviously isn’t ideal 🤷🏻♂️ .

We are constantly having new life on the farm but this is a first time mum and she was being really patient with her baby and it was lovely to see…. We had a visit from a local school yesterday and named her calf Blanka to go along with our ‘B’ names this year.
Lovely having students around and they got warmed up after a while and asked some great questions.

Oh what weather 🌧️! It reminds me of last year…… I hope those who ventured out to a firework display managed to dodge the rain. Sadly all cows are in winter quarters now, thanks to Mick and Sonny for getting things sorted.
We managed to get away for a couple of days…… and where do we go?! Farmer palmers😂 to have a tractor ride and see the animals 🙄.
Apologies, the new vending machine started playing up just before we went and we are in the process of getting it fixed now, so no ice cream in there. We have been making ice cream yesterday and Friday so will have caramel fudge, white chocolate and raspberry, vanilla, coffee crunch, plain and strawberry available if you knock on our door.

Glad you’ve had some time off - richly deserved. I’ve had a few goes at buying glass bottles over the last week, to be informed by the vending machine that they are too heavy for the arm. I’m guessing this is part of the vending machine issue. Hope it all gets sorted for you soon

Sorry a bit more tractoring ….I would love to say I steered the tractor in such a straight line…. But I would be lying 🤥 we have capability in a couple of tractors so they steer themselves, you could say it improves accuracy of seed placement…. But I just love seeing straight lines….. looking forward to seeing it emerge 👌
What a beautiful day☀️and I have to count my lucky stars that I am doing what I love today….. not just any old day drilling wheat….. the last day!!!!!the weather has been on our side this year and I’ve gone all out the last couple of days (before the potential storm) to be done before half term as I have forgotten I have children.
Milking cows will be in at night tomorrow night so hopefully everyone will be happy.
I had ten kites and two Buzzards accompanying me today…. Beautiful sight.
